World Class Artist/Faculty with Opportunities for All!

About The Festival

Founded in 2015, our 4th annual Festival will be hosted by Robert Slack and Karl Sievers at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles. This year's line-up features a "who's who" of students from William Adam's studio, including many of the top trumpet artists in Los Angeles.

The William Adam International Trumpet Festival was established to honor his legacy and present his concepts to the next generation of trumpet students. William Adam taught trumpet at Indiana University’s Jacobs School Music for 42 years, from 1946 to 1988. After his retirement, he continued to teach privately at his home through Oct. 14, 2013. He is widely considered to have been one of the greatest trumpet pedagogues of the 20th century.

William Adam’s inspirational approach to teaching and dedication to his students made him one of the most influential trumpet teachers of the 20th and early 21st centuries. All those who studied with him take great pride in sharing his natural approach to playing the trumpet with their students. This festival ensures that his philosophy of teaching, caring and personal attention will be continued for generations to come.

The festival hosts top professionals from throughout the United States, masters of the trumpet, who have achieved a high degree of professional accolades after mastering the techniques and methods taught to them by their mentor William Adam.

This summer’s events include master classes, student trumpet ensembles, free lessons, seminars dedicated to specific problem solving, ProTools for brass players, concerts, and a special opportunity to be coached and take part in a recording session led by Jerry Hey.
